What Do You Think Of The First Non-Airbrushed Makeup Ad?

One beauty brand is banishing Photoshop for their latest ad campaign!

These days, we take for granted that every ad we see is airbrushed. That’s why we get so excited to see stars like Jessica Simpson go all-natural, and why we get so upset when we see our favorite stars get obviously Photoshopped! So we were excited to see MAKE UP FOR EVER publish the world’s first unretouched makeup campaign, to promote their newest product, HD Invisible Cover Foundation. We have to admit we’re more likely to trust a foundation’s coverage if we feel like we’re looking at a photo that really shows it– so this is a smart move by the company to get people to pay attention to what its makeup can do!

The ad is out in magazines this week, and shows a model holding out her arm to take a photo of herself. Though we’re sure she has naturally flawless skin to begin with, we can tell that she definitely isn’t retouched for two main reasons:

  • There are shadows and dark spots on her arm that would normally be airbrushed out
  • She has very light shadows under her eyes which you usually wouldn’t see in the final ad

The company wants to make the point that women can look flawless without being digitally enhanced– and we applaud that! What do YOU think of this ad? Tell us in the poll below!
