She also reveals the REAL reason her marriage came to an end: she needed ‘peace and stillness’ in her life!
In a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Courteney Cox finally addresses those pesky rumors of an on-set romance with Cougar Town co-star Brian Van Holt. “He’s a really good friend of mine, so I don’t care,” she says of all the speculation. “It just doesn’t matter. He’s a great guy, and he’s definitely been a part of my support system.” But Brian’s not the only man on the receiving end of Courteney’s praises. She also has nothing but good things to say about her estranged husband, David Arquette.
“You can’t really get mad at David because he’s not a malicious person,” she tells the mag. “He was dealing with things the best way he could. And don’t get me wrong, he was on [The Howard Stern Show] for entertainment. David is smart, and David is also a showman. He knew what he was doing. … He’s not out to harm. But I’m his biggest protector. I can’t help it.”
She says that, as you get older, a relationship becomes more about “compatibility than it is about love. … It’s more about needing just a kind of peace and stillness. I’m kind of all over the place, and I need grounding. I want to be calm. I want to change a lot. I want to live not outside but inside. It’s nothing with David; it’s just what I’m searching for.”
Further shooting down rumors that she and Brian are dating, she tells the magazine, “I have no desire [to date anyone] right now. … I’m not saying never. It just seems weird.”
