Gilbert Gottfried made a dozen jokes about Japan’s tragedy on his Twitter and subsequently loses his job
Gilbert Gottfried is known for his inappropriate but often hilarious humor, yet this time it seems he has gone too far. The comedian went on a Twitter rampage with multiple jokes about Japan and the backlash has already begun — Aflac fired him as the voice of their spokes-duck.
“Japan is really advanced, they don’t go to the beach, the beach comes to them” joked Gilbert on his Twitter early this morning. His shocking tweets have now been taken down after the harsh backlash towards the comedian for joking about the tragedy that has taken thousands of lives and is still far from over.
“Gilbert’s recent comments about the crisis in Japan were lacking in humor and certainly do not represent the thoughts and feelings of anyone at Aflac,” said the company in a statement. “Aflac will immediately set plans in motion to conduct a nationwide casting call to find a new voice of the iconic Aflac Duck.”
What do you guys think about Gilbert’s comments? Are you outraged or do you think he was just joking? Sound off with your opinions below!

I never cared for Gottfried…..now I really have disdain and disgust for him. What an insensitive fool. He should go crawl under the nearest rock, never to be hired, seen or heard of again. Its no loss. HIs voice is like chalk scratching on a blackboard. I hope to see him in NYC and give him a piece of my mind. To tell jokes during such a horrific time in history for any nation is a disgrace. How would Gilbert like to hear jokes regarding the Holocaust…..yep did’nt think so Gilbert…..from one Jew to another…..get my point….you’re a real LOSER to think, much less make public your tasteless “humor” at the expense of the Japanese people. Gilbert…….go take a dive off a tall bridge.
