He also had to explain to his mother why everyone thinks he’s a ‘DILF!’
Ryan Phillippe dropped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on March 11 and shared how he’s able to not only parent functionally with his ex-wife Reese Witherspoon but how their children make them so proud they are moved to tears!
Ryan, 36, said he and Reese, 34, recently attended a school function where their daughter Ava, 11, read a speech about clean water in Africa inspired by Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have A Dream.” Her reading was so powerful Ryan said he and Reese both started to cry.
“[Ava's] mom and dad were just so blown away and [she] inspires us on a daily basis,” he said.
When host Ellen DeGeneres complimented him for doing such a good job raising the kids with Reese even though they’re divorced, Ryan said, “I think we’ve done a heck of a job.”
Ryan also shared a funny anecdote about being a famous child. He said his mother frequently reads celebrity websites and often asks him about what is true. Ryan said she was upset when she started hearing him referred to as a DILF, shorthand for “Dad I’d Like to F–k.”
“She took particular umbrage with this,” Ryan says. “She said, ‘I always read in the comments that they call you a DILF.’ She goes, ‘I don’t like that. I don’t know what that means but I don’t like.'”
We’re sure Ryan had a great time trying to explain that one!
