Canadian Actors Jay Baruchel and Alison Pill Are Engaged! Congratulations!

The pair have been dating for only five months — Was it love at first sight?

Jay Baruchel, 28, of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice accepted his Genie Award for fan-voted favorite Canadian actor on Mar. 10, but the excitement must have made him a bit flustered because he referred to his girlfriend, 25-year-old actress Allison Pill, as his “fiancee” in front of the crowd!

The couple met while filming Jay’s current project, Goon, a movie about hockey (Canada’s favorite pass time!) Although both Jay and Alison are known for being low-key and nerdy, they have some pretty impressive resumes. Alison has appeared in Milk and In Treatment, and you probably know Jay from Knocked Up and Million Dollar Baby.

So how did he propose? He popped the question in Montreal around Christmas time with 180 year old Victorian wedding band that he hadn’t intended to be an engagement ring. According to Jay, “I wasn’t sure, I wasn’t ready in my heart to say what it was,” but then decided to say “F** it, do you want to marry me?”
