Kirstin Says: I'm Glad Ashthon Got The Boot From 'Idol,' But I'm Worried About Casey!

Casey Abrams is in the hospital AGAIN and missed the results show tonight. I hope he’s okay!

Exactly two weeks ago, American Idol contestant Casey Abrams was in the hospital getting a blood transfusion for an illness we only were told was a “stomach issue.” The 19-year-old crowd favorite seemed healthier, yet weak, when he performed days later in the Top 12 guys night — and then he was totally fine from then on out. Or so we thought.

During the results show March 10, Casey was conspicuously missing from the rest of the group. Ryan Seacrest informed the audience one of our favorite guys was back in the hospital watching from his bed. This came as a complete shock to all of us in the studio — no one had reported anything about Casey’s illness for weeks, not even TMZ. What was even weirder was the way Casey wasn’t mentioned at all the rest of the show! We have no idea what’s wrong with him, if he’ll be back and most importantly, if he’s okay.

As predicted, Ashthon Jones was eliminated from the competition and Haley Reinhart and Karen Rodriguez were in the bottom three. None of this affected me as much as potentially losing Casey. I hope he’s okay and he’ll be healthy enough to compete next week.

Get well soon, Casey!

UPDATE 12:15 a.m. PST 3/11: Casey tweeted from the hospital to reassure his fans. “”hey guys, thanks for the well wishes, I got some nice fresh blood in me and feeling better. People at Idol & Cedars are treatin me real good,” he wrote. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting Casey had TWO blood transfusions to help with his ulcerative colitis, which is “an inflammatory bowel disease which affects the lining of the large intestine.”
