From catering jobs to Hollywood recognition, life for the sudden star can feel as fish-out-of-water as his character!
Ben Rappaport may be the star of the hot new NBC show Outsourced, but his transition into Hollywood seems as foreign as his character Todd’s move to India! He spoke exclusively with HollywoodLife.com about his quick rise to stardom and what fans can expect from Todd through the rest of the season.
The 24-year-old Ben could not have guessed he would land the leading role in the first season of the most successful new show of NBC’s Thursday night comedy lineup.
“I was back in New York, graduated [The] Juilliard [School] a couple of years ago and I was pounding the pavement doing the New York actor thing for a while,” Ben said. “But last year it was the beginning of pilot season and I got the [Outsourced] script and read it. I don’t think I’ve ever read a part that almost felt as if it was written for me!”
But Ben is modest while talking about his new fame. “I wouldn’t say I walk out my door and have to shield my eyes from the flashing lights of cameras, but it’s a new experience for me. I probably get recognized once a week,” he laughed.
We were even able to get the inside scoop on how Todd will handle his love life at the end of the season!
“Throughout the season Todd has been slowly but surely absorbing the culture and getting comfortable with his surroundings and you’re going to see relationships really start to blossom even more,” Ben said. “As for the love triangle with Todd, Tonya and Asha — it’s still not over. There’s stuff to flush out!”
We’re so excited to see who Todd ends up with!
