Was Corey Haim The Farrah Fawcett Of This Year's Oscars?

Gone, and now forgotten: The ’80s teen heartthrob was left out of the Academy’s “In Memoriam” tribute. Didn’t he deserve to be included?

Wow. There are always a few names that get left out of the tribute. But did the Academy snub Corey Haim? Last year, we were shocked when Farrah Fawcett was no where to be found in the montage of stars who have passed away, and this year we were surprised to find Corey’s face missing. What was the Academy thinking?

The Lost Boys star, who succumbed to pneumonia and a heart condition on March 10, 2010 at the age of 38, wasn’t mentioned in the SAG Awards “In Memoriam” either. The reason? The show was running too long. It is sad that a notable name could not be recognized because of a time constraint.

“We have become used to not being honored by our peers in the industry,” Corey’s friend and co-star Corey Feldman told The Hollywood Reporter at the time of the SAG Awards. “I have faith that the Academy will make a wiser choice.”

That didn’t happen. So what was the Academy’s excuse? What do we think HollywoodLifers?
