Two babies were among those killed by the devastating 6.3-magnitude earthquake that struck Christchurch, New Zealand. So sad.
As the death toll rose above 100, authorities in the city of Christchurch began releasing the names of victims, including nine-month old Jayden Harris and five-month old Baxter Gowland.
Little Baxter was born just weeks after Christchurch was rocked by another severe quake, back in September.
Meanwhile, Jayden’s family are mourning their “smiley wee man” who was devastatingly crushed by a falling television set.
His grandmother Linda Nash tells the Herald Sun newspaper, “He was just gorgeous. He had not even started to crawl but (mum) Tracey said he wasn’t far away, but obviously he did not get the chance.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the tragic tots who were caught up in this terrible natural disaster.
More than 200 people are still unaccounted since the quake struck Feb. 22. That means the death toll is expected to rise — but rescuers haven’t given up hope of pulling more survivors out from the wreckage.
