Denise hits ‘The View’ to reveal how she kept strong during her ex-husband’s recent meltdowns.

Denise Richards has spoken out about being the mother of two of Charlie Sheen‘s children, and seems incredibly patient when describing the last few months as “a difficult situation.”

Denise, 40, has two girls with her 45-year-old ex-husband, six-year-old Sam and five-year-old Lola. Denise discussed her current parenting situation on the Feb. 18 episode of The View, saying the conversations get more uncomfortable as her children grow older.

“This has been something I’ve dealt with for years,” Denise says. “This is not a new situation. There are times when his life is more colorful than others and more public than others, and as the kids get older it’s a difficult thing.”

When asked what she did to explain Charlie’s struggles to her kids, Denise admitted it can be a hard process, saying “I’m learning as I go.” One of her favorite ways of keeping them informed is through a book which helps children come to terms with addiction at their own level.

We feel so bad Denise has to deal with all of this drama from her ex-husband — it’s great the kids have at least one parent who cares about raising them right!
