Are you as confused as I am after watching Brit’s new video? Watch it here & let me know your thoughts!

Britney Spears is back — not that she really went anywhere — with her highly anticipated music video for “Hold It Against Me.” But was all that hype worth the wait? I say no. It begins with a colorful astroid hitting the Earth and ends with some leather-clad gentlemen hitting the floor… with a whole lot of mixed concepts and disconnected themes in between.

To her credit, though, Britney still dances pretty well — I think. The camera refuses to stay on her for more than a second at a time, so I had trouble gauging her moves.

Then there’s the obnoxious product placement, which make it feels less like a music video and more like a 4-minute commercial — but a commercial for what, I’m not sure. Sony? Britney’s perfume? PlentyOfFish.com?

But while I dislike the video as a whole, I love that it features footage from “…Baby One More Time” and more of Britney’s old videos. I’m a firm believer that her next video should involve her recreating her most memorable looks (but maybe I’m just curious to see how she looks in the latex “Oops… I Did It Again” suit 11 years later.)
