Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz sparked rumors of a reconciliation with their public Valentine’s Day date but a source tells us what’s really going on
Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz had us all buzzing this morning after photos emerged of the couple on a very public Valentine’s Day date with their son Bronx. Are they getting back together? A friend of the couple’s talk to HollywoodLife.com and explains their date.
“They did the lunch solely for Bronx and his well being,” reveals our source. “Pete and Ashlee are trying to make things as normal for him as possible. A divorce is always hardest on the children involved, and they are remaining civil and friendly to put on a united front for their son.”
Pete, 31, is apparently heartbroken over Ashlee, 26, filing divorce papers. Meanwhile, Ashlee has moved in with her sister Jessica and reportedly taken Bronx with her.
It’s comforting to know two-year-old Bronx’s parents are putting him first, and avoiding the drama that often go hand-in-hand with divorces and custody battles. Hopefully they can continue to be civil as the proceedings continue.

No matter how hard a couple tries at first to do what is best for the children, they will ultimately fail. If they truly knew what was best for the children, they wouldn’t be getting divorced in the first place and would be spending more time keeping their marriage together. Divorce destroys families and ruins the lives of the kids involved. No child of divorce is ever able to lead any kind of normal life. Back and fourth between their parent’s homes, dealing with step-parents and step siblings, and the inevitable fighting that will go on about money, is all children of divorce have to look forward to.
