Pete tried his hardest to convince Ashlee to not go through with the divorce, but the fact is — she wants out.

The Fall Out Boy singer begged his soon-to-be ex wife Ashlee Simpson to not file the papers on Feb. 9 in Los Angeles, Calif., sources tell TMZ. But Pete’s pleas had no effect on Ashley as she wants out of the marriage.

Ashlee, 26, cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. She has also asked for joint legal custody and primary physical custody of their two-year-old son Bronx.

Over the weekend, Pete was spotted in Dallas, Tex. looking super happy and was even wearing his wedding ring. Ashlee and Bronx were not by as side as they stayed home in L.A. Could he have been in denial about what was going on back at home?

Pete and Ashlee married in May 2008. Friends of Ashlee blame the split on Pete’s “erratic behavior,” while Pete’s people are saying that the couple just grew apart.

Reps for Pete released the following statement on behalf of the artist on Wednesday afternoon: “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our No. 1 priority. We ask that everyone honor our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives.”

Poor Pete! Do you think he has a shot at convincing Ashlee to not go through with the divorce? Vote below.
