The grieving father reflects back on the beautiful lives of his two teens. How heartbreaking!
Army Col. Parker Schenecker will never get to hug his daughter Calyx, 16, or high-five his son, Beau, 13, ever again. The two teens were allegedly gunned down by their own mother, Julie Schenecker, who was arrested on Jan. 28 in Tampa, FL., for the senseless murders. Parker was serving overseas in Qatar at the time of the massacre. “I am dedicating the rest of my life to honoring my children,” the 48-year-old father tells People magazine.
“Calyx and Beau were typical kids who lived exceptional lives,” he says. “Calyx excelled in her advanced classes and sports, especially track and cross-country. She challenged everyone around her to think about others.” HollyMoms, can you even begin to imagine this man’s pain and suffering right now? My heart breaks for him.
“Beau was all boy,” he tells the magazine about his son, who shared his sense of humor and idolized his dad. “He was proud to have just made the soccer team for his school. What I will remember most about Beau is his infectious smile and innate sense of humor.” How truly tragic that the young man’s life was snuffed out while he was on his way to soccer practice.
Since losing the loves of his life, Parker has vowed to make sure that their memory is never forgotten. “I forever will miss my two beautiful, loving kids. To help cope with my loss and having their incredible spirits live on, I will support causes in which they believed.”
Parker, you really are an inspiration to all of us.
