The Creative Director opens up about working with the stylish star — and says customers can even purchase a similar version!

When Sophia Bush‘s character, Brooke Davis, walked down the aisle on One Tree Hill, the star looked stunning in a custom-made BCBG dress — and it turns out the star even had a hand in helping design the dress! So, how did the collaboration come about? “I have always been a big fan of Sophia, and once we met we became instant friends. When the “wedding story” for her show came up it was a natural partnership for us,” Lubov Azria, Creative Director of BCBG said. In fact, they started working on the dress together in September 2010.

The gown, made of layers and layers of silk tulle draped over Chantilly lace, was finished off with a hand-beaded, silk grosgrain ribbon belt. The Creative Director went on to say Sophia was very hands-on with the process! “She [Sophia] was involved every step of the way; beginning with the approval of sketches and choosing fabrics. When it came to the multiple fittings she was a big part of finalizing the details such as the cut, drape, and trimming of the dress.”

So, how long did it take to get the dress done? “We began initially with sketches then had numerous fittings. It took about 3 months to get to the final finished gown, which was shot.”

Lubov even said she would love to work with Sophia again — is being a fashion designer in the star’s future? “She is a naturally talented designer. To be a good designer, you have to have good taste, and Sophia certainly does. She has a great sense of style. I truly hope [to work with her again], she is so talented and has an incredible taste for fashion.”

Luckily for all the devoted fans at home, Lubov said BCBG is creating a similar version for customers to purchase — now you can look as glam as Brooke Davis on your special day!
