New details are surfacing about the grisly murder—the mother was found in a blood-soaked robe and slippers, sitting on the porch. How could she have killed her own children?
Investigators in Tampa, FL are starting to uncover more clues as to why military wife Julie Schenecker, 50, murdered her two teenage children, Beau,13, and Calyx, 16. Julie told the police that she’d killed her kids because, “They talked back, they were mouthy, and she was tired of it.” So she shot her son in the head in the front seat of the family’s SUV as she drove him to soccer practice, then went home and shot her daughter in the face as she sat at the computer doing her homework. Now, a new report in People magazine reveals that Julie had gone out and bought the murder weapon, a .38 caliber revolver, five days prior to the killing with the intent to use it to kill her children. So she had been planning to kill her kids. This somehow makes it worse.
People also reports that Tampa police found a note in the house that Julie had written, detailing her plan to kill her children and then herself.
The troubled stay-at-home mother had come under investigation with child services three months ago for slapping her daughter, Calyx, in the face for calling her mother “disgusting.” Some are saying that this was a warning sign. But to go from slapping your child to buying a gun and shooting her in the face? That’s a huge leap, don’t you think?
