Bret had heart surgery Jan. 24, and his fans honored him with donations for diabetes research!

Bret Michaels might just have the best fans in Hollywood! Bret’s rep tells that from the moment Bret, 47, underwent surgery to repair the hole in his heart Jan.24 at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Ariz., there has been a “major influx” of donations to Bret’s longtime charity, the American Diabetes Association.

“Bret would like to send out a big thank you to all those who donated to the ADA,” his rep tells us. “He is extremely appreciate of this incredible support.”

The Poison frontman was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was six and has since been a huge advocate for his cause. Bret even won Donald Trump‘s Celebrity Apprentice in 2010, raising $640,000 for the ADA. This past weekend, the recently engaged rocker stopped by the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car auction and sold his 1969 Camaro for $220,000 — donating all the proceeds to his longtime charity, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Even in Bret’s must vulnerable moments, he is beyond charitable — and his fans are clearly moved by his kindness. Bret is currently in ICU and expected to be released from the hospital tomorrow.

Get well soon, Bret!
