The singing waitress nearly nearly swapped her bracelets for handcuffs! Find out what happened.

Devyn Rush, 20, blew us away with her performance of “God Bless the Child” on the Jan. 19 season premiere of American Idol — but apparently not everyone loves listening to her sing. HollywoodLife.com obtained official documents from the New Hope, Pa., Police Dept. which cited a July 2009 incident in which police were forced to shut down an outdoor performance by Devyn and one of her friends.

Devyn and a friend were setting up amplifiers for a performance on July 18, 2009, at the New Hope Visitor’s Center, when an officer asked if they had permits to play. Devyn informed the officer that she’d been booked for a gig, and seemed unaware that only acoustic instruments were allowed in that particular area.

She told police she had made a verbal agreement the person who booked her for the gig, but unfortunately that wasn’t enough to convince the officer to let her stay.

Devyn and her friend packed up their equipment and left.

What a bummer — that officer doesn’t know what he missed! Just check out Devyn’s American Idol audition below:
