Venus, your tennis skills are scary enough — why were you trying to frighten away the competition?
Venus Williams showed up with her A-game at the Australian Open Jan. 19, but we can only conclude that she left her fashion sense at home. The tennis star/fashion designer was sporting a design from her own label, EleVen, that included a yellow sports bra, lattice midriff, and lightweight printed skirt.
So light, in fact, that it kept revealing her signature skin tone shorts throughout the game! As crazy as this looks, Venus has pulled off some extreme gear before, wearing everything from sheer pink sparkles to a black lace lingerie-inspred number. At least her visor and Nikes reminded us we were watching tennis!
If she was trying to distract her competitor, it definitely worked — she won the game! Venus beat Czech player Sandra Zahlavova 6-7 (6/8) 6-0 6-4 after a totally intense game. And that’s impressive considering she’s been out for almost a year for a knee injury.
She’s now in the third round of the Australian Open and that means the outfits are going to keep coming!
