The drama never stops with MTV’s reality train wreck couple Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley. Despite their recent turbulent encounters, both parents are now requesting their protective order be dropped.

Teen Mom’s Amber Portwood has been making headlines for her abusive treatment of baby daddy Gary Shirley, white-trash boyfriends, and wild partying ways. After various accounts of domestic abuse and her stint in jail, Amber and Gary have been ordered by the court to stay away from each other for the benefit of their baby, Leah. Recently Gary asked that the protective order be removed, and now Amber is making the same request, reports E! News.

Gary was the first to fight to remove the no contact order against Amber, and papers he filed claim he longer feels like he is in danger. “Mr. Shirley is in no fear of Ms. Portwood. The events with which she has been charged are remote in time, and she presents no danger to Mr. Shirley.”

In court last week, Amber also made a motion to have the protective order removed because she believes that it is important that they have contact in order to best raise Leah. Amber said, “It is important to all three persons for the parents to have contact with one another to discuss topics concerning this child.”

Maybe the couple is thinking about getting back together. After all, just a few weeks ago we reported Gary wanted to get back together with Amber. Unfortunately, it seems more likely the couple just wants to shoot another season of Teen Mom. It would make filming a lot more difficult and things a lot less dramatic if Amber and Gary weren’t allowed to speak to each other on the show. Do YOU think the couple has Leah’s best interest at heart or are they more interested in cashing out on another season of Teen Mom?
