Can you believe that a bar in Roselle, Ill. asked a pregnant woman to leave their establishment even though all she was doing was drinking water?
Who knew that socializing while pregnant was a crime? Apparently it is in Roselle, Ill.! That’s where a woman was kicked out of a bar after the staff found out that she was 8 months pregnant! “I was stunned,” Michelle Lee, 29, told ABC. “I thought maybe there was some sort of pregnant woman ordinance.” She wasn’t throwing back shots — she was drinking water, so what exactly was the problem?
This is how the story unfolded. On Jan. 6, Michelle went Coach House Restaurant with a couple of her friends to celebrate after her a baby shower. After only being in the bar for 15 minutes, a bouncer approached Michelle and told her she had to leave.
“It was a bunch of malarkey really,” Michelle said. “He said to me, ‘I have a personal question to ask you, are you pregnant?’ I said yes. Then he said, ‘I’m going to have to ask you to leave.’”
Even though she was only drinking water (her friend had just ordered a shot), the bouncer told Michelle, ”’If anything happened to you here, we would be responsible.’”
Study says drinking alcohol while pregnant is OK
Law enforcement in the town said Michelle should not have been escorted out. “That is not acceptable behavior,” Terry O’Neill, the president of the National Organization for Women, added. “We live in a country where people feel increasingly empowered to make decisions for pregnant woman.”
Michelle is now considering hiring an attorney to sue Coach House. We think she has a pretty solid case going for her. Pregnant woman are allowed to be out and about in society. It’s not a contagious disease, after all.

Are you kidding me? I’m from Chicago and if this “lady” is hanging out at the “Roach House Inn” as it’s so appropriately nicknamed, @ 8 months pregnant…then perhaps DFACS ought to begin proceedings to take the baby as soon as it’s born! I am so sick at tired of this CRAP! Clearly a pregnant mother to be ( especially one who could go into labor any minute !! ) shouldn’t be hanging out at a place that makes the movie Roadhouse look like a disney flick!

And no I’m not some old bitty, I’m a TRUE feminist who is SICK TO DEATH of bad examples of women like this…who then will turn and take their bad behavior and turn it into some glorified injustice! When the REAL injustice is that poor unborn child and it’s irresponsible mother. I’ll bet she’s in a bar nursing her new baby before the snow melts!
