Even if you don’t like football, you now have a great reason to watch Super Bowl XLV: Christina will be singing “The Star Spangled Banner,” and we’re convinced it will be the best version yet!
We have to admit, if our team isn’t in the Super Bowl Feb. 6, we will have to pass our time with tons of partying, watching the funny Super Bowl commercials or waiting for the unknown excitement of the halftime show. However, this year things will start off with a bang, as The Dallas Morning News reports Christina Aguilera will be singing the National Anthem!
A spokesperson for the NFL was coy on making any formal announcement saying, “no comment” on Christina’s singing duties and was quick to add, ‘When we have something to announce, we will announce it.”
Christina, 30, last performed at the Super Bowl during the halftime show in 2000, sharing the stage with fellow pop star Enrique Iglesias and rock legend Phil Collins. However, this performance will put her in a different stratosphere — the legendary ballad has previously been performed by such divas as Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, Whitney Houston AND Mariah Carey. Talk about some serious shoes to fill!
Do YOU think Christina is a great pick or should someone else’s voice do the honors? Sound off below!
