Ashton and the newly engaged actress tackle the issue of friends with benefits in their new flick — and believe it or not, Ashton finds sex to be funny!

Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman want you to know that onscreen sex isn’t what it seems! The actors are used to intimate scenes — especially Natalie with her racy oral sex scene with Mila Kunis in Black Swan – but Natalie tells the February issue of InStyle that her solo masturbation scene on set was “super-awkward” and “anyone who tells you otherwise is not being honest.”

Ashton echoed Natalie’s feelings based on his experience from their upcoming romantic comedy No Strings Attached, which hits theaters Jan. 21, saying it’s definitely difficult to film sex scenes.

“[The scenes] are sort of meant to be funny or comedic,” Ashton tells E! Online. “The real challenge was, you’ve got 50 people looking at you, you’re with someone you don’t really know, and you’re trying to make sure they’re comfortable, you’re trying to be comfortable, and now, you’ve gotta be funny.”

Natalie, who recently announced her engagement and pregnancy with Black Swan costar and choreographer, Benjamin Millepied, says friends with benefits isn’t for her.

“I certainly have friends who could deal with that and others who could not,” she says. “It’s something I’ve seen in high-achieving women—they compartmentalize. You’ve got your work, your friends, your exercise, and your sex. [Grins.] You can tick off those boxes.”
