Is Robert Pattinson Stepping Into A Cosmic Disaster Or Will He Save The Day?

Colin Farrell left, Marion Cotillard’s pregnant — did R-Patz sign on to a doomed movie with Cosmopolis?

As all you Twi-hards already know, Robert Pattinson has signed on for the lead role in Cosmopolis , a David Cronenberg directed movie. While we’re excited about Rob’s challenging new film, we’re a bit concerned about how much trouble the movie has had getting off it’s feet. Colin Farrell was the first to leave the film, but now Marion Cotillard might be following in his footsteps!

What does Colin think of Rob replacing him in the movie?

“It’s a wonderful script, I wish [Rob] all the luck in the world with it,” says Colin. “I really wanted to do that film.” Unfortunately, Colin said he had too many “scheduling conflicts” with the movie, which is adapted from a novel by Don DeLillo.

Colin’s not the only one with scheduling conflicts. Cosmopolis was originally announced as a movie adaptation all the way back in July 2009. It was delayed several times due to the busy schedules of the reported leads including Marion Cotillard and Paul Giamatti, and was also placed on the back burner due to financial trouble. Further delays occured when Colin left the project, although an official start date was just announced after Rob was cast.

Now, with Marion’s just-announced pregnancy, there are concerns production could be even further delayed! Or is Marion’s role being re-cast? Are you worried that Rob has made a mistake signing on to this constantly-delayed film?

The movie had excellent cast. Too bad if Marion drops out of the project due to her pregnancy but there are other actresses in Hollywood. It could even be a good thing if they’d re-cast and found someone closer to Rob’s age. He is playing whizkid in this movie and pairing him with someone younger would be more believable. Though Marion’s age difference with Rob could have implied some interesting spin on the story behind the story. :)
Overall I am not concerned. It’s Cronenberg and Rob in one project. It’ll be fine.

dont really see whats the big deal. rob got the role, because colin dropped out, many movies sit on the self for years before they get made, and im pretty sure that marion would only drop out if she had to. some site are saying that she is due in may, so who knows. if she drops out there are plenty of other amazing actresses that would take her place. i think the big thing going for this movie is the fact that its a cronenberg movie. the man is highly repected in hollywood.
