Women sing the praises of Spanx but what do you think about moms-to-be squeezing their burgeoning bumps into a pair?
Celebrities from Katy Perry to Jessica Alba have fessed up to wearing Spanx — Gwyneth Paltrow even admitted to slipping on two pairs after the birth of her daughter, Apple! But now, moms don’t have to wait until after the baby is born to throw on some of these tummy tuckers! Spanx has a line of supportive, sucking-in tights, panties and leggings for pregnant women!
Being pregnant doesn’t mean you can’t be sexy — especially when there’s a comfortable pair of Spanx to help you shape your rear and thighs. At first, we thought sucking in your baby bump sounded totally absurd, but then we found out that Spanx garments don’t actually flatten your tummy — they provide “under-tummy and lower back support for expectant moms.” The Mama Spanx Maternity Footless Pantyhose and Full-Length Pantyhose hit the market a few years ago and now the brand even has a maternity version of their famed Power Panties called Power Mama. But although there have been dozens of support garments for moms-to-be for years, the Spanx seem to have caught the attention of celebrities as well as regular HollyMoms.
“We get tons of e-mails from pregnant women thanking us for the under-belly and low-back support provided in our maternity line,” Spanx creator Sara Blakely tells TODAYshow.com. “I didn’t quite understand until I was pregnant myself, and wore Power Mama maternity shaper shorts almost every day from months five to nine. There is absolutely no compression in the tummy area, and the waistband is super soft. The fact they make your butt and thighs look less jiggly and more toned is a side benefit.” So Hollymoms, what do you think about maternity Spanx? Would you wiggle into a pair?
