The miniseries, also starring Greg Kinnear, was pulled by History but will find new life on another network – will YOU be watching?

Epic miniseries The Kennedys may have been commissioned by popular cable channel History, but the network has dropped it, fearing the narrative is too juicy for their image.

History released a statement saying the eight-part special, which stars Greg Kinnear as John F. Kennedy and Katie Holmes as his wife Jackie, saying, “We recognize historical fiction is an important medium for storytelling and commend all the hard work and passion that has gone into the making of the series, but ultimately deem this as the right programming decision for our network.”

Deadline is reporting the project is being proposed t0 premium cable channel Showtime.

The Kennedys co-producers Muse Entertainment and Asylum Entertainment released a statement about the cancellation, saying, “We are proud of the work all of our talent put into the making of The Kennedys and the painstaking efforts that went into creating a drama that is compelling while rich in historic detail. Although we regret this does not fit into the History Channel’s plans, we are confident that television viewers in the United States will join viewers from around the world in having an opportunity to watch this series in the near future.”

We’re sure History was nervous about the miniseries tackling all of the juicy scandals that rocked the Kennedy family — and their unease just makes us want to see it more!
