As one of the most well-loved female news anchors on television, Katie’s career is soaring with every passing year.

She was everybody’s buddy as co host of The Today Show with Matt Lauer and now Katie Couric has a huge fan base following her on the CBS Evening News, as well as 60 minutes. After her husband Jay Monahan lost his battle with colon cancer in 1998, Katie put a lot of her focus on her career and towards raising their two daughters Elinor Tully “Ellie,” 19, and Caroline “Carrie,” 15. Now she’s a huge success — as a news woman and a mother.

“Every time I think, ‘Oh woe is me,’ I think of single mothers who work for minimum wage, and have three kids to bathe and feed when they get home from work.,” Katie said of raising her daughters alone. “It really puts everything in perspective for me.” Happy Birthday Katie!
