Can You Believe A Michigan Couple Put Up A Billboard To Help Them Adopt A Baby?

Josh and Wendy Rougeau are so desperate to become parents that they’re willing to spend $2,000 a month on a billboard in the hopes of finding a baby to adopt.

Anyone who’s ever wanted a baby but couldn’t have one of their own knows the heartache involved. Sometimes desperate times call for drastic measures and that’s exactly where Josh and Wendy Rougeau are at right now. The Michigan couple recently put up a billboard advertising themselves as a “Loving Couple Looking to Adopt” complete with their picture and phone number. “We hoped we would conceive naturally. It didn’t happen, and we’re ready to make the next step,” says Wendy. HollyMoms, do you think this is a good way to go about finding a baby?

The attention-grabbing billboard on a major Michigan highway is costing the couple $2,000 a month, but they consider it to be well worth the money. “It’s a big investment, but it does reach a lot of people, so we decided to take the plunge,” says Wendy. “If we looked back and said it took $2,000 or $2 million we would agree it was money well spent,” adds Josh.

And it’s not the only way the couple is getting the word out about their parenting plans. They’ve also had T-shirts printed up and left Mom and Dad business cards around their town.

“We want to explain who we are and we’re ready in a loving house and family just looking to build on,” explains Josh. And they’re not giving up hope. “We know it will happen eventually. We’re not sure of the timetable,” says Wendy.

But what if the billboard doesn’t yield a baby? “I don’t have a skywriting campaign yet,” Josh says. “We’re going to concentrate on a grass roots effort.”

I give this couple a lot of credit for taking such an out-of-the-box approach to making their baby dreams a reality, but I really don’t think if I were looking to give up a baby, that I would ever call a number I saw on a billboard. Would you?
