After suffering through countless miscarriages, Sarah Nitta is determined to lose weight so that she and her husband can finally become parents. Alison Sweeney weighs in on Sarah’s story.
Year after year, The Biggest Loser introduces us to some extraordinary people who shed light on their life struggles while shedding excess pounds. The new season of NBC’s hit show premiered last night (Jan. 4) and 22 new contestants shared their stories and personal weight struggles. One contestant whose story touched our hearts was Sarah Nitta, who after losing several pregnancies because of her weight is ready to work hard so that she can finally become a mother. “Sarah’s story is so brave,” Biggest Loser host Alison Sweeney tells HollyBaby exclusively.
“She has tried so many times and actually come close to death in order to have a child,” Alison says. “I am so heartbroken by her story, especially knowing how blessed I am by my two beautiful children.” Relentlessly teased throughout her life, Sarah, 27, who currently weighs 261 pounds, found solace in food and found it even more comforting throughout her fertility struggles. “I seemed to lose more control and gain more weight,” she said of eating following her miscarriages. Now, she’s determined to shed those pounds so that she and her husband can finally become parents.
“I know what she’s fighting for and I know so many women will relate to her story,” Alison says. “In Sarah’s case, her obesity was a big part in why she can’t conceive, but it carries on beyond that. As parents we need to be as healthy as we possibly can be. I think Sarah is going to be a shining example of a woman who uses her sorrow and struggles to succeed — to change and learn and grow as a person. She is going to be an amazing mother some day.”
We can’t wait to watch Sarah’s journey on the show and see her weight loss from week to week. We pray she gets everything she hopes for!
