Winter weather-proof your lips with these amazing lip balms and treatments!

Ugh! One of the worst things about winter is painful, dry lips! Between arid temperatures, dry indoor heat and freezing blasts of winter weather, the skin on your lips can really take a beating. I’m here to help!  Read on for tips to keep your lips soft through the winter months!

Any and all of the products in the gallery below are absolutely essential to make sure that your lips stay soft and pain-free this winter. Here are some other things you should be doing:

Stop licking your lips: If I give you one piece of advice that you never forget, it’s to stop licking your lips if they feel dry. Saliva might feel better for a second but it only dries your lips out further and can add irritation if you already have an open wound.

Exfoliate regularly – At night when you’re washing your face, wet your lips and using a soft washcloth or a toothbrush GENTLY exfoliate the skin on your lips. Immediately apply a lip balm and you’ll wake up with amazing, soft, hydrated lips.

Have lip balm handy at all times – I have lip balm in my purse, next to my bed, on my coffee table while I’m watching tv, at my desk, etc. and I apply it all day long. Do not slack on this task. You should be applying lip products often and even more frequently if you’re outside in the cold.

Always apply lip balm before you go to bed – This is the other cardinal rule you have to remember. Right before you go to sleep, apply your lip treatment. Your body dehydrates itself as you sleep and you need to protect your lips from drying out.

Drink TONS of water – Honestly, that should go without saying but dry winter temperatures make it hard to hold onto your body’s moisture. Stay hydrated!

Hope these tips helped you! After all, you’ve got to keep those lips in good condition. They frame your smile and you never know when a good kiss could be coming.

Stay beautiful, BFFs!

Don’t take a tooth brush to your lips, you’ll only hurt them and makes your lips sore. Use a sugarscrub made from sugar, olive oil and essecial oils like Lavander or ALoe to help healing. Rub in circular motion across lips then slather in your favourite lip balm.

I’ve been using Made from Earth’s lip balm for about a decade now and I’ve always loved it. It tastes, smells, and feels great on my lips.

I’ve tried the other variations of their lip balm such as the blueberry, spearmint, and citrus. the citrus one is a bit too feminine for me. So I’ve come back to the original vanilla flavor and I’ll probably stick with it for awhile. The cooling instantly sooths my dry lips while the beeswax and oils leave my lips feeling soft and moisturized. If you haven’t tried it yet, you should. Bottom line: There’s a reason people swear by this stuff. Give it a shot.
