After a jaw-dropping summer finale, the prettiest little liars in Rosewood, Pa., returned Jan. 3, and ‘A’ has more control over their lives than ever!
After being hit by a car and almost left for dead last August, Hanna (Ashley Benson) is thankfully alive and well — but she won’t be rocking her signature heels anytime soon, thanks to a broken leg courtesy of “A.”
But the jaw-dropper of the episode was Hanna’s revelation to her pretty little pals that “A” is none other than their classmate Noel (Brant Daugherty), putting the girls’ initial suspect Toby (Keegan Allen) in the clear. While Spencer (Troian Bellisario) and Emily (Shay Mitchell) are quick to shift the blame to Noel, Aria (Lucy Hale) isn’t so sure.
And what else isn’t Aria sure about? Her “hot for teacher” romance with Mr. Fitz (Ian Harding!) The couple’s last secret rendezvous remained anything BUT secret as someone caught them macking in the back of Ezra’s car and left a cryptic message — which they pondered over, along with the future of their relationship. Fortunately Ezra and Aria still want more of each other, which is great because I definitely want to see more of them! But Noel, Aria’s ex-flame and new prime “A” suspect of the moment, isn’t happy about it and reveals he saw the two getting hot and heavy in the car. He promises to keep their secret… for now.
With secrets pouring out left and right, it was only a matter of time before Emily’s literally came out to her conservatively straight parents. After struggling with her sexuality earlier this season, she finally realizes she’s gay and tells her military father. Though her dear old dad isn’t exactly fond of the idea, he says he can live with it. Too bad the same can’t be said for Emily’s mother, who plans to “fix” her daughter this season. Uh-oh!
Speaking of families in crisis, the Hastings household will soon have to deal with an explosive revelation from Spencer’s overachieving older sister Melissa (Torrey DeVitto.) After Ian (Ryan Merriman) reappears, the two decide to elope — so not only is the former “Nanny Carrie” going to be a bit happier, but the totally shady Ian will be sticking around this season.
With one episode down and nine more to go until the big finale, “A” is definitely stepping up his/her game to the next level… whether our four little liars are ready or not.
