Is Amber turning over a new leaf? The ‘Teen Mom’ star says she’s taking classes to turn her life around.

Amber Portwood appears very conflicted about her celebrity status, telling TMZ in a new video interview, “I might get attention, but it’s not the right attention.”

She sounds genuinely reflective while shopping for boots in Indiana, saying, “I turned 20 and I don’t want to be known as ‘Amber from Teen Mom.'”

She’s surprisingly candid about her legal troubles, and even shares the sympathy she had for her fellow inmates.

“I just kept thinking to myself these girls are in here for years, months,” she said. “The lesson I learned in 24 hours in jail is basically what they’ve learned in their time there.”

Amber also revealed that eight months of therapy and a course in anger management were her decisions, which she chalked up to embracing “self-control.”

Hopefully the anger management class can help her deal with ex-fiancé Gary Shirley, 22. A new tape, also released by TMZ, features Gary telling Amber’s cousin that “Amber is sluttish. You’ve been with six dudes, Amber’s been with f***ing a million.”

We suggest Amber continue her education with a class in personal finance. She told TMZ, “I don’t make, like, a major amount of money,” in spite of recently revealing in court that her MTV salary is $280,000 a year.
