Should a mother who has been charged with domestic battery and child neglect be reunited with her 2-year-old daughter? We don’t think so.
After spending 24 hours behind bars on charges of battery for violently fighting with her ex-boyfriend Gary Shirley, Teen Mom star Amber Portwood is set to be reunited with her 2-year-old daughter, Leah. “It’s my understanding that Leah will be placed back with her,” attorney Robert Schembs tells People. Are they seriously allowing Leah to be cared for by a 20-year-old who was just released from jail for beating up the child’s father? This is ridiculous!
Amber was booked on Monday (Dec. 27) and kept in the Madison County Jail in Anderson, Ind., overnight after being charged with three felonies, including two counts of domestic battery, one count of neglect of a dependent and one misdeamenor charge of domestic battery. Yet, it seems like these things don’t matter when it comes to Leah — she will still be reunited with her mom, although Amber is not allowed to have contact with Gary. But, her attorney adds, “To my knowledge, they are on good terms.”
In court yesterday, Amber revealed that her occupation is a “television personality” and that MTV pays her $140,000 for a six-month contract. Meaning, Amber makes $280,000 annually. Although that might seem like enough money to support Leah, it is not all about income — it’s about safety! Is the 2-year-old girl really safe at home with Amber?
If you ask me, no. Especially when the court revealed their is unedited MTV footage that shows Leah witnessing a physical encounter between Amber and Gary. The poor girl has been through enough — she needs to be kept out of harm’s way!
