Amber Portwood Spent First Night In Jail With Four Other Inmates & Slept On The Floor!

Amber was finally arrested on domestic felony battery charges & she’s being treated just like ‘everyone else’ while spending 24 hours in jail.

Amber Portwood isn’t getting special treatment while behind bars. The Teen Mom star put on the standard orange and white stripped inmate shirt Dec. 27., and spent the night on a typical “thin” jail mat, at the Madison County Jail in Anderson, Ind., last night. The 20-year-old reality star was arrested and charged with two counts of a Class D felony for domestic battery, neglect and a misdemeanor for beating up her baby daddy Gary Shirley, stemming from episodes of the MTV show.

A reporter for The Herald Bulletin who went to the jail says that even though Amber has been placed on a 24-hour hold, and has posted her $5,000 bond, she seemed to be in good spirits and was “smiling and speaking with the jail guards.”

Amber was brought into the jail through a “prisoner transport garage” by the Anderson Police instead of turning herself in, for safety reasons. According to the Herald Bulletin, Amber was wearing jeans along with her inmate shirt, when they stopped by the jail. Instead of being placed in her own cell, the jail decided to place Amber in a holding cell with “four other female inmates.”

“She’ll be treated as any other person would be,” Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson said.

Amber is expected to make a court appearance this afternoon before being released.

Amber deserves to be in jail. I don’t understand why they waited so long. They have allready taken Leah away, & gave her back. Don’t unerstand why she wasn’t arrested for abuse then. Amber doesn’t deserve to have Leah back once these charges are taken care of. If she gets that mad & starts hitting people. What is going to stop her from hitting Leah when she gets older & starts really acting up. People will say she needs help.Ok, agree to a point. My Mom was raised in an abusive home. She made the choice NOT to treat her children or any one else that way. Dad, very abusive house hold. He choose to continue w/that. Mom took care of that though. People decide how they want to be. Amber has chosen to be a hitter & foul mouthed.
Gary needs to step up to the plate. Take care of their child himself. Not hand her over to his Mom. They both need to grow up. ALOT. Human Services needs to make the right decision & stick to it. Not give Leah back within 24hrs. Let Gary have primary custody. Amber can have supervised visitation. If she gets mad. No visit’s @ all.
