Real Alaskans Can't Relate To Sarah Palin's Super-Expensive Adventures on Her Show! Insider Reveals! Exclusive!

Sarah spends thousands to go on her TLC adventures, but a local who’s known Sarah for years says that’s NOT typical Alaskan behavior!

Sarah Palin sets the bar high on her reality show — too high, actually. Mama Grizzly shows fans a beautiful and exciting side of her native Alaska each week on Sarah Palin’s Alaska, but it turns out her weekly adventures are anything but typical! HollywoodLife.com spoke to a lieutenant at an Alaskan police department, who insists that no one in Alaska actually does the things America sees Sarah, ToddBristol and the family do every week!

“We all think the show is great and love watching it each week,” our source admits. “But these things she’s doing cost a lot of money. You don’t see people going up mountains, taking long fishing trips, and shooting caribou each week.”

In case you forgot, HollywoodLife.com researched the cost of the Palin’s hunting trip, which resulted in one bagged caribou, and the grand total came out to $42,400! But it doesn’t stop there: Early on in the season, Sarah went on a two-day fishing trip , and then enjoyed a climbing expedition on Mt. McKinley which ran her a whopping $12,250! Almost all her weekly adventures have involved using bush planes to travel, which Sarah has said – ALL Alaskans do!

So while Sarah may  boast regularly about the “real” Alaska, the Palin’s lifestyle as portrayed on her “reality” show is entertaining to her fellow Alaskans, but hardly  relatable!

I have lived in Alaska all my life–but never had the money to go on the weekly expensive vacations that Sarah Palin shows. We live near the water, and can go halibut or salmon fishing with our friends who have a boat. We can hike out in the woods and kill a deer or moose or caribou, but most of us do not. The typical Alaskan does not charter a boat to go fishing; charter a plane to go hunting; charter a helicopter to go for a hike/mountain climbing. Even if we had the money the Palins have, we would do things the old fashioned way, which costs less but involves more intelligence and more physical effort. Sarah Palin doesn’t have many friends in Alaska. What she doesn’t tell you is that while Governor, she set up a program that really rewards a person for producing a TV show that shows the beauty of Alaska. She is being paid almost a million dollars for this eight week series–and Alaskans didn’t realize the only reason she passed this bill was to reward herself at a later date. In addition, it is all about self promotion of Sarah Palin! Last week a poll taken in Alaska shows that only 30 per cent of the voters would approve of Sarah Palin in 2012–Sarah Palin’s wheels are always going a mile a minute, thinking up ways that she can get herself more money. She has three names in the 49th State: half term Guv; the loser and quitter and the Queen of Greed. People in the Lower 48 call her the Pitbull and Barracuda or Mama Grizzly–none of these are likeable animals, either. Take your choice of which name describes her best but none of them are complimentary.

I have visited family members in Alaska, and they DO fly everywhere (many places to visit are inaccessible except by air and Alaska has the highest number of private pilots)……we fished for salmon in Prince William Sound, we visited Homer, and though we are not rich, we did some of the things Sarah Palin’s family do on her show; the people who live in Alaska DO love it. Yes, she is well-known now and can gain access to places easier than the average person, I think she is a very patriotic American. I think her Dad is great too. I would much rather watch Sarah Palin in Alaska than the boring and snotty Kate Gosselin and her spoiled brats.

“Wish people would stick to the issues Sarah endorses and find fault if they will about those things and be civil enough not to call her or her family vulgar names.” OK, let’s do that… It is a FACT that she gleaned the majority of her foreign policy opinions by cramming with McCain’s staff, a task (according to those very staffers) that she “often lost interest in studying”. She often was more concerned with her hair, makeup, being able to go jogging than to do the homework required. She has been unable to actually name newspapers she regularly reads. She preaches morality, yet has an unwed daughter, she lately bellers on about Michele Obama wanting to “ban dessert” to the point where even Mike Huckabee kindly tells her to shut her pie-hole. She parades around on her special as if she was some hard-worn Alaskan, yet the facade of phoniness and gloss is apparent. Sarah, we were Sourdoughs from Ketchikan dating back to 1953. My father, a long-time GOP, would look at you today and grumble, “what a phony”. Anyone blind to what her true ambtions are, simply money, fame and power–are as false and shallow as she is.

Don’t talk to a Lieutenant with the Anchorage PD to know how “real” Alaskans live. “Real” Alaskans live in the bush…meaning that we don’t have a road system to use to get from one town to another. Therefore, we DO use bush planes to get everywhere…or a boat in the summer time. Take a look at Google maps and see where Bethel, Alaska is at. Then take a look for all the roads to the other villages around us. We either take a snowmachine in the winter, a boat in the summer, or a bush plane. The difference is that most of us don’t pay for a flight like Sarah does. We usually throw a few dollars to a friend for some AvGas, or we barter services for a flight to a village to see friends and family. However, if I had the checkbook of a major production company behind me, don’t think I wouldn’t tell my friends to charge me $10,000 for a flight up to Aniak. Spread the wealth a little bit.

Just in case anyone is curious, those of us who live in the “bush” don’t consider those in Anchorage to be “real Alaskans” in any sense of the word. Any place with a Wal-Mart and a Starbucks hardly meets the definition.

I also find it really interesting that everyone loves the fact that President Obama extoling the virtues of Steve Jobs and Apple are a great thing…when Apple is making nearly $500 of profit on each WiFi / 3G iPad that they sell, yet the same people want to give Sarah Palin a hard time about $12k trip that a production company is paying for. Both are examples of “stimulating the economy” in the way that Obama is telling us that we should…by spending money rather than saving it. Why the double standard?

Ah, so I guess I’m not a “real” Alaskan either because I live in a city that has a Starbucks. Just like when Sarah Palin went to the Midwest and said she was visiting “real Americans.” People who live in cities just don’t count huh? What a bunch of crap.

Yeah, pretty much…that’s what I’m saying. Unless you have come out and lived in the “bush”…where milk costs $9.00 a gallon and gasoline in $5.65 a gallon, then you haven’t experienced Alaska like “real” Alaskans have. Come on out, spend a winter with us, and see if it doesn’t change your opinion. When everything is easily available to you, it really changes perspective.

Yes, this show will work against her. It’s called OVER-EXPOSURE and she is rapidly achieving it.

Many Alaskans turned their back on her when she quit as governor. But her followers are fiercely loyal and there is NOTHING she can do to make them dislike her. Her followers will justify ANY behavior, from claims of death panels to taking the sides of billionaires against social security beneficiaries, don’t put anything past them. They say “she’s human, just like me.” It’s called cult of personality, and she’s got plenty of it.

I have lived in Alaska my whole life and many people do go on extensive hunting trips, but it’s pretty commmon knowledge that Sarah Palin and her family do not do this kind of thing on a regular basis. Most often, “reality” shows are anything but, and it’s naive to think otherwise.

It may be easy to spend a thousand dollars or more to get all the needed hunting equipment (or at least the hunting equipment that Alaskans want and can often afford, from Sportsman’s Warehouse, Cabela’s or The Prospector), and put that number in the tens of thousands for a 4-wheeler or other “toys”, or over a hundred thousand for a decked-out motorhome (on payments or not). Which is a joke because hunters often claim they are saving money by shooting their own moose or caribou for meat throughout the year! The smart ones (and they do exist) don’t spend all that money except for the first season, then all the rest of the years actually do make it worth it by only buying necessities. For many men, they just want to get outdoors and away from the nagging wife and demanding kids, and saying they are providing for their family is a good excuse. Sorry, but it’s true.

You guys have no solid evidence she is asking for a mil an episode. And if she get that good for her. TLC is not in the business of losing money. You enviuos little whiners. In fact I heard it would be the same $250,000 as it was this year. Also I never hear anyone whining about all those other shows on the Outdoor Channel or the Sportsman channel and how much those ventures cost.

Sarah should have told McCain thanks but no thanks and stayed out of the liberal poison pit. In all my life (54 years) I have never seen anyone so piled on. She can’t jest about Michelle’s obesity program without everyone in the media thinking she just pushed the nuclear button. How powerful she must really be. She’s not even an elected official and gets more attention than the president. I thought Ronald Reagan had it bad.

Lastly who ever said this show is waht Alaskans do all the time? This show is about the possibilites Alaska offers. And to answer your question about what they would do next season…. there is no end to the things this show could talk about. In fact there are 2 shows right now that are entirely about Alaska per se, “Alaska gold rush” and “Deadliest Catch”. Are you going to whine about how much they get an episode? You guys need to go crawl back under your rock.

It would serve you all right if she were to become president.

“It would serve you all right if she were to become president.”

that will never happen. she was bad enough before this reality show, now the “undecided” cant help but laugh at her, so she wont have their votes either.

i simply cannot see somebody becoming president after having a reality tv show. the less you know about a candidate the less you can hate about them. sarah, the fool, took the other road and now shes f***ed.

The state of Alaska paid her 880,000 dollars to do the show from a bill she passed before she quit as governor.

Since when do the participants on a reality TV show pay for their own trips? I thought the TLC does? Does Kate plus 8 pay for their trips? Do the Duggers pay for the trips? Don’t be stupid here? Always looking for an excuse to BULLY a Palin. Set an example for our kids and maybe they won’t bully each other in school.

The average American can have any adventure Sarah Palin can have – they just have to leave off the Hollywood production values and be prepared to take a little more time doing it.

In fact, Sarah Palin is now so insulated against the real world by her fame and fortune that the average American stands a much better chance of having a real Alaskan adventure than Sarah Palin ever will again. ‘Cmon up, have a really great time, leave some money, make some friends, take some memories. Hope to see you soon.

That whole thing is beyond stupid. She’s filming a tv show for crying out loud. Half the things she’s doing on the show (white water rafting, rock climbing) she’s never done before either. This is like saying “Most people can’t pick up and go around America checking out the dirty jobs that other people do.” (Another TV show.) Duh. No kidding most people can’t afford to go on a wild adventure every week. It’s more about showing everyone what’s out there. Most would probably pick one or two of those things to do in their lifetime.

Anyone who watches her drivel and thinks that is ‘real life’ is probably someone who also believes that she is a great mother, that she cares about something other than her exploding bank account, and that she is just this sweet, unpretentious down home girl. Hah. Palin’s narcissism is even getting her fans…her book sales have tanked. Next will be her pseudo political career. Maybe, soon, she will actually have to mother that brood of hers, if she can remember how to.

Chloe: A good reporter would make a few calls and talk with more than one source or just call the tourism office. My daughter lived there for 4 years and though I never went to Alaska ..because I feared my reactions would have been the same as Kate Gosselin’s..ha! But my sister did go and her travel agent suggested many of those activities but they cost too much. She did opt to go out on a boat in which she did see two whales, a bear, a caribou, and a few moose.

Yes, it costs a lot of money to travel to these places and do some of the things Sarah maybe does locally for a lot less but it is like any state travelogue show with Sarah going on the adventures. She already stated that she had never climbed Mt. McKinney. But as for the cost ..get real..the show is picking up the tab.

Sarah’s father lives further out of town and that is where Sarah grew up being taught by her science teacher Dad to hunt and fish and explore science hands on.

Sarah’s husband did have a plane and I think that it is what influenced her to name Piper after the plane they got the year she was born. My daughter tells me that though she lived in the larger city of Anchorage she said you would often see huge moose roaming the downtown streets and see those small planes flying over anywhere you went in Alaska.
My daughter says though her outdoor life was spent walking from the parking lots into the malls she had lots of friends that did all the things Sarah is showing on her show.

It has nothing to do with Sarah thinking alot about herself, it has to do with media even like this one knowing they can attract traffic and sell ads with the very mention of Sarah Palin’s name. Any given day there was over 45 million hits on google for her name. Mark Burnett who produced the Survivor series knows how to add and knows he stands to make a bundle off this series…Since Sarah did not want to do a reality show per se, Mark came up with this idea to show off her state and things she likes to do…he then came up with a figure he knew she would find hard to resist. Wouldn’t you do it if it was offered to you and was something you would enjoy doing?
you say you wouldn’t give two cents …well you already did by clicking and reading and posting a comment.
That’s what drives the media to have her name out there every day every where. You may not agree with her politics but you have to admit she is absolutely fascinating as well as her beautiful family. I cannot see Michelle O, Hillary, Laura Bush standing in a boat with waders up to her hip taking fish out of a net while conducting an interview for a news show and yet looking cute as a button the whole time.
Do you ever think that the cute little Piper is going to grow up one day and read all the horrible nasty names people on the internets says about her Mom and how that is going to make her feel. Wish people would stick to the issues Sarah endorses and find fault if they will about those things and be civil enough not to call her or her family vulgar names.

Sarah Palin is just plain greedy. Her love for money is a lot greater than her love for Alaska. Forget the lie about Mark Burnette contacting her–she contacted every agent in California to see if they would produce a show with her. He had the connections to sell it to the media–and every TV channel except cable took a pass. Then TLC bid on the series, offering Sarah a lot less money than what she wanted. After the first episode she went to TLC and hawked the idea of having another series made but she wanted a million dollars herself for her family’s starring roles. She told friends that she was business savvy and knew that she should hit them after the very successful, heavily promoted first episode as you got the best money when you had the most viewers. This show is more like a political campaign showcasing Sarah than a travelogue about the beauty of Alaska. Sarah very carefully had a bill passed when she was Governor so that any shows featuring the beauty of Alaska would financially reward the producers–and Sarah stands to make close to one million dollars. She says it promotes the state of Alaska–the angry residents say that she shouldn’t get all the money because it promotes the Palin family. You can bet that this law will be revised before Sarah does her second series. This is similar to all those ethical complaints that Sister Sarah had while she was the half term Guv–it is loopholes that Sarah looks for and takes advantage of and she definitely has a talent for turning whatever she touches into Palin GOLD.
