Terrible news. Two children covered in burn blisters were rushed to the hospital after their mother failed to protect them from the sun!
This is sad. A 24-year-old Australian mother pleaded guilty to two counts of neglect after police found her five-year-old son and two-year-old daughter extremely sun burnt and covered in two centimeter blisters! The woman, who remains unnamed due to legal issues, was facing a fine up to $44,000 but escaped with nothing but a reprimand after officials realized she could not be jailed and wouldn’t be able to afford the hefty charge! Do you think they made the right decision?
Police found the two children at a caravan park on the Central Coast of Australia on Nov. 23. Their faces, shoulders and backs were covered in blisters. They were rushed to the emergency room. The boy was placed in the burn unit after he and his sister received painkillers and antibiotics. A statement from the court reveals that although the mother pleaded guilty to neglect, she felt “no remorse” and at one point blamed her daughter for refusing to wear a hat — later admitting that the toddler never owned one!
The mother says that she took her kids to the beach on Nov. 21 for “a few hours,” while witnesses say the toddler spent the whole day outside wearing nothing but a diaper! And that’s not all, the 2-year-old was covered in mosquito bites and the little boy had rotting teeth. Health workers say the children, who remain in the care of doctors, were in “immense pain,” hungry and thirsty. How terrible is this?
