Ava Phillippe is in the throws of the terrible tweens! The 11-year-old is totally embarrassed by her mother’s behavior.
“She’s on the verge of being a teenager and basically hates everything I do,” Reese Witherspoon says about her daughter, Ava, 11. During a visit to The Late Show, the 34-year-old star dishes about her daughters preteen angst to host David Letterman.
Reese, who currently stars in the romantic comedy How Do You Know, has worked hard to keep Ava and her little brother Deacon, 7, down-to-earth since divorcing their father, Ryan Phillippe, 36 in 2006. And at a recent Carrie Underwood concert, Reese realized that the girl is definitely not star-struck when it comes to her own mother, and refused to let her take the stage with the country star!
“Ava said, ‘Mom, you are NOT going to sing with her on stage, ok?’ I said OK. What can you do?'” Reese revealed to Letterman. And she’s got such a good attitude about her daughter’s growing pains that she didn’t take it personally. ” I don’t mind though. I love being a mom.”
HollyMoms, do your preteens act the same way as Ava? How do you handle it?
