Justin and Selena have been friends forever — but can their relationship morph into something more?

Teen singing sensations Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have been as thick as thieves for over a year, and now it seems their relationship may have changed. The two were spotted holding hands during a recent outing in Philadelphia, leading many to believe that they might be dating. But is it possible for Selena to turn her best guy friend into her boyfriend?

The answer to this particular question, of course, is HECK YES! It’s actually preferable to date male friends. You know their flaws, their strengths and are close enough that you don’t have to deal with the ‘getting-to-know-you’ awkwardness.

A word of caution though: think extra carefully about getting involved with one of your male BFFs. If things DON’T work out, there’s a very good chance you’ll be ruining your friendship forever — so you have to be prepared for the ramifications of taking your relationship to the next level.

In Justin and Selena‘s situation, I do think it’s a bad idea to become involved. They’re both young and at the onset of their careers need to be allies, not hate on each other in the media if things don’t work out. When you’re a bit older, you’re wise enough (hopefully) to be more cautious about who you decide to make your BF.

Ever heard the expression ‘friends make the best lovers?’ Well, I believe that to be true. But please, make sure it’s right before you go there with your best buddy — there’s nothing worse than losing a friend and a boyfriend at the same time.
