Good For You, Katy Perry! You're Putting Your Marriage First & Taking On Your Hubby's Last Name!

In a world that’s all about image management and making money, we give Katy Perry mad props for having the guts to change her name to Katy Brand!

Eyebrows were raised when Katy Perry decided to marry bad boy Russell Brand after dating him for barely a year, but the newlyweds seem happier than ever! In fact, they are so in love that Katy is taking that big step toward tying herself to her hubby completely and is changing her name to Katy Brand. Pretty bold move, don’t you think?

The curvy 26-year-old crooner stopped by The Ellen Degeneres Show Dec. 8 to talk about her wedded bliss with Russell and when Ellen asked if Katy would ever officially change her name, Katy was happy to report that she was “in the process” of becoming Mrs. Brand.

Through the years we’ve watch other divas like Christina Aguilera and Jessica Simpson tie the knot, but rarely do they ever take on their husbands’ last names! Even Heidi Klum took Seal‘s last name, but still uses “Klum” professionally. Katy Perry has become a household name, but the pop icon is willing to risk it all just to show the world her relationship comes first.

Will her business suffer? Will her identity be wrecked? That remains to be seen. But at the end of the day, Katy is 100% dedicated to making her new marriage work and that’s something we can appreciate…especially in Hollywood.
