Bummer! Ellen’s wife has passed on the chance to be part of the first same-sex couple on Dancing with the Stars!
Even though Ellen DeGeneres wasn’t a big fan of Dancing with the Stars having a same sex couple, we still held out hope that her gorgeous wife Portia de Rossi would be hitting the dance floor. Looks like ABC needs to find someone else to fill those shoes…
A rep for Portia has stated that the request to appear as one half of the first lesbian couple on DWTS has been declined. PopEater is reporting that because Portia has passed on appearing on the show, they are thinking of scrapping the idea of a same-sex couple altogether.
“If Portia had agreed then this would have been a done deal,” an ABC source tells PopEater. “She was the only star that could have pulled this off without completely offending the program’s conservative viewers.”
Since this past season was full of controversy and plenty of Palin debate, the casting director promises that this next season will have “the most boring bunch of stars ever” — aka they are not going to do anything to change up the show too much. “When you have a hit as big as this on your hands, everyone is scared to mess it up,” says the casting director.

LOL… Portia DeGeneres is an Actress this is true, I personally believe Portia is a very talented Actress. Having said that Portia is also (in my personal opinion) not a lady who chooses to put herself in the line of fire. While Mrs Portia DeGeneres is as healthy, happy and more accepting of herself than Portia has ever been. Portia (along with her Beautiful & equally talented wife Ellen DeGeneres) are and always will be extremely protective of their “PRIVATE LIVES”.
I have the deepest respect & admiration for both Portia & Ellen and I am not in the least suprised Portia decided not to sign on for DWTS.
