Amazing Race Recap — Nick and Vicki Didn't Stand A Chance After A 6 Hour Penalty!

After a lucky non-elimination leg last week, the tattooed couple Nick and Vicki couldn’t pull themselves from the back of the pack and were sent home while the other teams secured spots in the final three!

This week Nat and Kat, Jill and Thomas and Brook and Claire all left for South Kora on a midnight flight from Hong Kong but unfortunately, Nick and Vicki were stuck waiting out a six hour penalty forcing them to leave the next morning. Just like that, their six hour penalty turned into a nine hour set back.

“We were so behind,” Nick tells HollywoodLife. “We needed a miracle.”

Once the three team in front arrived in Seoul, they drove to the North Korean border at the Demilitarized Zone where they white water rafted down the river. Yikes! A little too close for comfort in my opinion but the teams were pretty excited. I guess it’s not everyday you get to say “I rafted on the border of North Korea!”

The Road Block challenge took them to a field of 200 US soldiers where teams were forced to find a soldier with a corresponding headband to theirs while they practiced martial arts. The next clue took the teams to Seoul’s World Cup stadium where teams faced the Detour of this leg, Full Throttle- speed skating or Full Bottle- delivering and drinking ginseng water. Naturally, all three teams choose speed skating which looked like tons of fun, except for all the slipping and sliding! They may not have been graceful but who wouldn’t want to channel their inner Apolo Anton Ohno! They got to be Olympians for the day!

Brook and Claire were the first team to check in at the pit stop, but incurred a 30 minute penalty for taking a taxi when they shouldn’t have, making Jill and Thomas team number one.

Unfortunately for Nick and Vicki they hadn’t even arrived in Seoul by the time the other three teams had completed this leg, making it impossible to escape elimination this week.

“We knew this was going to be out last leg of the race so we agreed to just go out and have fun and take in the scenery,” says Nick.

Although they missed out on the million dollar prize, many people doubted this tattooed team would get this far to begin with but they fought their way to the top four, an accomplishment Nick credits to his partner.

“Vicky is so strong, ” he gushed. “There was nothing she wouldn’t do!”

With Nick and Vicki out, that leaves Jill and Thomas, Brook and Claire and Nat and Kat who will race as the final three! Will an all female team finally win The Amazing Race after 17 seasons? Will Jill and Thomas overcome their bickering and keep their lead. Who will receive the honor of winning what’s believed to be the most challenging season of the race since it’s early beginnings? We’ll find out next week on the season finale!

Who do YOU think will win this season of The Amazing Race? Vote!
