Aww! John Travolta is “hopelessly devoted” to his new son, Benjamin! He cried when he first held him in his arms!

John Travolta and Kelly Preston are basking in baby bliss over their new son Benjamin‘s arrival! And if this isn’t the perfect way to welcome him into the Travolta family — John is serenading his little boy! “John’s been singing to Ben and dancing with him, telling him what a wonderful life he’s going to have,” a family friend tells Star magazine. “John says he cried and just melted when he first held Ben. He feels the baby is here for a reason.”

John, 56, and Kelly, 48, as well as their 10-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu, have finally found some happiness since losing their oldest child, 16-year-old Jett, who died of a seizure last year.

“John is absolutely thrilled,” his stepmother, June, tells Star. “They deserve this joy.” But the last few months didn’t come easy for the family, who worried about Kelly who had a high-risk pregnancy due to her age. “[But] the great news is that the baby’s in terrific health and Kelly’s in terrific health,” John says.

Mariah Carey sings to her bump!

“Kelly had hoped to have a water birth at home,” says an insider. “But John had convinced her to go to the hospital when the pain became overwhelming. He told her, ‘Go to the hospital or I will carry you there!'” A family friend adds, “Her doctors were concerned about things going smoothly, so they insisted on a C-section. Kelly gave in, because of course she wants what’s best for their son.”

Now the Travoltas are loving their new life with Benjamin, who could turn out to be one heck of a singer if Daddy keeps giving him singing lessons!
