Every toddler throws a fit, but how does Mel B handle her daughter Angel’s public tantrums? “I just leave her there.”
Toddlers may win the fight, but never the war! We all know there are some tiny tots who throw embarrassing public tantrums — and Melanie Brown aka “Mel B‘s” daughter, Angel is one of them! “My 3-year-old can be a bit of a nightmare,” Mel B tells Babble.com. “She’s a bit of a screamer. If she doesn’t get her way, she’ll try and attack my older daughter [Phoenix], but that doesn’t go very far.” Angel, whose dad is actor Eddie Murphy, sounds like quite the attention seeker, but Mel knows how to keep her tantrums under control! “I say, “OK, I’m just going to leave you there,” and let her think I’ve gone somewhere,” Mel explains. “Then, I’ll peek around the corner to keep my eye on her, and she’ll stop because she’s not getting any attention from me.”
But does she use the same tactic with her 11-year-old daughter, Phoenix? Not so much. “She gets grounded, or she’ll get her TV taken away from her, or [the entire] weekend — something she enjoys,” Mel explains. The Spice Girl says that thankfully her daughter his like a “mini-mom” when it comes to taking care of Angel. And raising daughters eight years apart — including her stepdaughter Giselle, 6 — does not come easy to Mel B, who is married to Stephen Belafonte.
Her biggest challenge is,”making sure you give each of your kids the same amount of attention,” she says. “Between my 3-year-old, my 6-year-old and my 11-year-old, my eye’s on my 3-year-old the most, making sure she’s listening to me and doesn’t fall in the pool. But it’s about splitting your time individually, so each child gets the same amount of attention, which is definitely challenging.”
Mel B sounds like an amazing mother who knows exactly how to run her household! Her motto? “Do as I say, not as I do.”
