Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson are planning to have a simple ceremony as they both say ‘I do’ for a second time — but should their wedding being as elaborate as their first nuptials?

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey had an elaborate, blow-out affair when they married on Oct. 26, 2002. But now that the 30-year-old is planning her second ceremony to a different man, she says the affair will be tasteful and “simple.” But should this second ceremony be as big a deal as the first?

Nothing should be as big a to-do than your first wedding. It’s your fantasy, planned out to the very last minute detail. In Jessica’ case, she had 350 guests, arrived in a Cadillac limousine and wore a custom-made Vera Wang as well as an 11-carat Harry Winston diamond headband. There was 25-member gospel choir and Jess and Nick even wrote songs for one another!

Right. You can’t really top that, can you? So why try?

Jessica‘s doesn’t need this second ceremony to be so showy. She’s older and wiser, more adult and knows what she wants. She’s not having a celebrity affair. She knows that Eric is ‘the one’ and simply wants to marry him without all the bells and whistles.

So does your second wedding need to be as big as your first? No. You have nothing to prove anymore — only that you really and truly love the person you’re saying ‘I do’ to at the end of the aisle.
