The holidays are fast approaching, and that means decorating your home — even if you live in the White House! Michelle Obama revealed her newly decorated home and joined in some arts and crafts, as well as making yummy treats, with her guests — military families from all over the United States! “It’s Christmas,” she said. “This is a very exciting time here at the White House for me and our family. And I have to say the house looks more beautiful than it did last year. It is really something special.” The first lady, along with President Barack Obama and their daughters Malia, 12, and Sasha, 9, are celebrating their second Christmas in the White House — which was generously decorated by 100 volunteers! Don’t you wish we could all have special elves come to our homes and hang some Christmas lights?

Michelle reveals why the President embarrassed Malia and Sasha!

“In the end, that spirit of kindness and generosity is really what the holiday season is all about,” Michelle said. “And it was the idea behind this year’s theme, which is ‘Simple Gifts,’ because in the end, the greatest blessings of all are the ones that don’t cost a thing. The time that we spend with our loved ones, the freedoms we enjoy as Americans, and the joy we feel from reaching out to those in need.” Rightfully said!

Michelle helped children decorate and design holiday cards and paper Christmas trees, while munching on some delicious gingerbread cookies! She also talked about her support for Toys For Tots, run by the Marine Reserves, that provides gifts to needy children. What a wonderful way to kick off December!
