LAURA’S LOVE LIFE ADVICE: Should You Take A Year Off From Having A Relationship, Like Kim Says She’s Going To?

Kim Kardashian says she needs to stay single for an entire year to find the perfect man. Is she pipe dreaming?

Oh, Kim Kardashian, what am I going to do with you? Every single time the reality starlet has a failed relationship – like former football-playing lovers Miles Austin and Reggie Bush – she says she’s taking a year-long relationship hiatus. But does she mean it, and will it work to help her find true love?

Her intentions are good, but do I think someone as in love with love as Kim clearly is can go a year without a boyfriend? No, I do not. At the age of 30, the Kardashian Konfidential star is ready to settle down – and I believe she’ll renege on her resolution like she’s done in the past.

But should YOU ever take a boy break when you find yourself unlucky in love?

Quite honestly, it isn’t the most awful idea in the world – as long as you’re focusing on something else during that time. For example, tell yourself ‘instead of going out boy scouting at this bar tonight, I’m going to take a photography class that night. I’m going to macramé. I’m going to learn how to speak Cantonese.’ Whatever, you get my point: fill the void.

And unless you’re writing a book like Eat, Pray, Love, don’t make yourself suffer by going man-free for a year. Set shorter goals for yourself, like a month or two. The beauty of this plan is that you can always prolong your time in male-free purgatory.

Would YOU ever take a break from men, HollywoodLifers ?
