Forgot about Tickle Me Elmo! This modern take on the rag doll is disappearing off toy store shelves everywhere — and parents are in a frenzy to find one! HollyMoms, are you on the hunt?
Meet Mittens Fluff ‘N’ Stuff! She’s the newest toy causing hysteria this holiday season — just like the Tickle Me Elmo stampedes in 1996 and the Cabbage Patch Kids craze in the ’80s. The blue-haired, rosy-cheeked doll is one of eight in Lalaloopsy’s “Sew magical — Sew cute” line and parents are going absolutely crazy trying to find one! Although a million of these $25 Mittens Fluff ‘N’ Stuff’s were made by Bratz manufacturer MGA Entertainment, they’re flying off the shelves and disappearing as fast as you can say… Lalaloopsy!
Although there are seven other Lalaloopsy dolls to choose from, including Crumb Sugar Cookie and Spot Splatter Splash, it seems that Mittens is all the rage among the brand’s young admirers! The doll is sold out in most toy stores, including Toys ‘R’ Us and on department store websites like Target, Kmart, and Walmart! The doll is even going for as much as $89 on the internet, with Amazon and Ebay boosting their prices. HollyMoms, how much are you willing to pay to make your kids’ Christmas wish list complete?
The inflated black-market prices “really kind of bother me,” CEO Isaac Larian of MGA Entertainment told the New York Post. “We want every girl to have one of these affordable dolls, especially in these economic times for Christmas.” He also thinks that the doll’s medium-toned skin is the reason why it is the most popular among its fans. “It’s not yet another blond doll with a white face,” he said.
What else makes these rag dolls so special? Each one is made from fabric that relates to their unique back stories and come with a pet animal that relates to who they are! Mittens Fluff ‘N’ Stuff was apparently made from pieces of an Eskimo scarf and born on the first day of winter, December 21. She comes with a pet polar bear and loves hot cocoa, snowball fights and snuggling by the fire.
Good luck finding one to put under your tree next month!
