How Kourtney Kardashian Lost The Baby Weight: 'I Eat Whenever I Feel Hungry'

Kourtney Kardashian‘s son, Mason, is turning 1 on December 14, but you would never even know she had a baby! The 31-year-old looks super fit and trim! She bounced back into shape quickly after Mason was born and she tells the story behind her body after baby in the new memoir, Kardashian Konfidential, which she co-wrote with her sisters, Kim and Khloe Kardashian! Kourtney: After I had Mason, I wasn’t in any rush to lose the weight I gained during pregnancy. Breastfeeding takes a lot of the weight off, so I lost a lot of it easily, not changing anything. In fact, I never had cravings while I was pregnant, but when I was breastfeeding I craved sweets. And I’m normally not a sweets person, I go for things like chips with fat and salt. But sweets were all I wanted. My mom would come over and bring all these Christmas cookies and brownies and I would eat them all day long. And I still lost twenty pounds.

Then I went back to working out again. I really like to run, though lately my knees have been bothering me so I do the elliptical, too.

I have changed the way I eat some. Now I have breakfast every morning, which I think is good for your metabolism, and then throughout the day I make sure I eat something whenever I feel hungry. I’ll have a cup of cherries, or peanut butter with banana. And I’ve really gotten into nuts and dried fruit. Even though I lost the baby weight a long time ago, I’m still eating that way. For my meals, I eat whatever I want.

I definitely never deprive myself. If you asked me how often I indulge myself with a food splurge, I’d say everyday. Absolutely. A cheeseburger with fries and a shake is always good. I also love DoubleStuf Oreos. And New York-style pizza with the thin crust. And I love having Mexican food and margaritas.

While I was pregnant, my butt got juicier, which I loved. But about three months or so after I had Mason I felt bad about my body for about a week. It was the only time in my whole life that I felt insecure about my body. I didn’t realize that after you had a baby your stomach wouldn’t just completely flatten out immediately. Especially after losing the baby weight. It was in Miami, I was like wait, what’s with my belly? But then I thought, who cares? I’m breastfeeding. I’m eating for two. Then I was past it.
