Usher knew Justin had talent the moment he laid eyes on the boy … so to see Justin take home four awards was incredible (and tear-inducing) for Usher!
Usher was so proud to see his little buddy Justin Bieber win his first four awards at the 2010 American Music Awards on Nov. 21 that he broke down with tears of joy! “The entire show was a success,” the 32-year-old superproducer said backstage. “The B man! To see Justin, having have received that award [Artist of the Year] before, it was like an out of body experience. I don’t cry often, but I did!”
“The first song that he ever did was ‘Bigger’ and that was kind of like the mantra, to do everything bigger,” Usher bragged. “Being an artist is not just about having one successful album or a successful record, or having a ton of followers on Twitter or a lot of subscribers on YouTube, being an artist is about finding an artist space that allows you to give to your fans and also to just make incredible music.”
“He had the talent. He could sing,” Usher added. “A musician at a very young age, he could play guitar, play the keys, play the drums … he’s ultimately talented and I [knew I would] love to be apart of what he is to become and it is what it is.”
Usher signed Justin to his Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG) in 2008 and helped Justin land a deal with Island Def Jam Music Group shortly after!
