Security at the Dancing With the Stars’ finale will be in full lock-down tonight when Bristol Palin takes the dance floor after a threatening letter containing suspicious white powder was received at the production office.

“Everyone is on high alert,” an insider tells Rob Shuter at “It’s like a scene from The Bodyguard, with Bristol playing the leading lady.”

Although the substance turned out to be talcum powder, the ABC show confirmed that measures were taken to ensure everyone’s safety, with an unprecedented security costing the producers hundreds of thousands of dollars.

“Nowhere in the world is going to be more secure than the ‘Dancing’ set on Monday,” an insider tells Rob. “The audience will all go through extreme security checks and not even the president of the United States could get backstage without the appropriate credentials that evening.”

But this level of security doesn’t come cheap, costing the producers an unexpected hundreds of thousands of dollars!

“This is a dancing competition, for God’s sake,” an ABC source tells Rob. “None of us signed up for this. We should just be worrying about getting the best shots and making sure all our lighting cues are tight, now we are all worrying about our safety. It’s just not right.”

Whether or not Bristol Palin wins the coveted mirror ball trophy this week, one thing’s for sure- All this attention has made her celebrity factor explode!

“Bristol could get endorsements, book contracts and TV show offers,” an entertainment source tells “Like her or not, everyone is talking about her.”

Even though the single mom has received low scores from judges and fought accusations that Tea Party supporters of her conservative mother Sarah Palin, have helped climb ahead of more naturally talented dancers like Brandy and Audrina Patridge, fans have loved to watch her improve from week to week. She went from uncoordinated and nervous to a real dancer, garnering the most votes from the viewing public.

“Such a connection with TV viewers pretty well assures Bristol a career if she wants to hop, skip and jump on it,” the source continues. “She has consistently improved and people can relate to how hard she has worked.”
